Dry
fly fishing for
large wild cutthroat in the river straight from the
lodge or by driftboat is nothing short of spectacular.
The trout run large (18 to 20 inch trout are common),
and are eager to take a dry fly. The bull trout in
the local rivers run 5 to 20 pounds and occasionally will
rip smaller trout off your line like a shark. We don't
recommend fishing for them if you have a heart condition!
In addition to the Elk River, the Wigwam, Bull and
Crowsnest rivers and several alpine lakes in the area
are teeming with wild trout, many of trophy proportions.
All
fishing is strictly catch and release fly fishing with
barbless hooks and careful handling of the fish.
Inexperienced fishermen are required to have a
guide to protect the fish.
While
we cater to the specific desires of fly fishermen
and women, there are many other activities for the outdoor
enthusiast.
