Northern
Vancouver Island
This is the best
place in the world to see wild orcas (killer whales). They
are one of the most exciting marine mammals to watch. Humpback,
gray and minke whales are also frequently seen. Dall's porpoise
often play on the bow wave of the boat. Nearby Knight Inlet
has now become the premier grizzly bear viewing site in
British Columbia . The Fall is the best time to view the
bears as they fish for salmon along the river. From raised
viewing platforms, we enjoy spectacular photographic opportunities.
At the old Kwakwaka'wakw native village of Mimquimlees and
Alert Bay we see totem poles.
