Eastbound Itinerary Details

Day 1 Vancouver to Kamloops
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Kamloops in the interior of British Columbia. En route you will pass through the fertile Fraser Valley and the scenic Fraser Canyon. One of the canyon's true highlights is Hell's Gate, where you will watch water torrent past the canyon's walls at its narrowest point. Upon leaving the Fraser Canyon, the train will follow the Thompson River to the city of Kamloops. Overnight in Kamloops.

Boarding Vancouver 7:30am PT; Arrival Kamloops 5:35pm PT

Day 2 Kamloops to Banff or Calgary
Continue your journey eastwards to the Canadian Rockies. First, you will travel through vast ranchlands to Shuswap Lake. Next, pass Craigellachie, where the "last spike" was driven completing the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1885. Beyond Craigellachie is Rogers Pass with its tunnels, glistening glaciers, and snow capped-mountains. Before crossing over the Continental Divide into Banff National Park, the train will travel through the unique Spiral Tunnels in Yoho National Park, a remarkable engineering achievement. End your tour in Banff this evening or continue to the Stampede City of Calgary. Hors d'oeuvres will be served onboard if you continue your journey to Calgary.

Boarding Kamloops 6:30am PT; Arrival Banff 7pm MT

OR

Day 2 Kamloops to Jasper
Back onboard the Rocky Mountaineer you will follow the Thompson River through rolling plateaus into the snowy peaks of the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains. Pass by Mt. Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3954 meters (12,972 ft), before entering Jasper National Park. Arrive in Jasper late afternoon.

Day 1 Calgary or Banff to Kamloops
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the Stampede City of Calgary or the mountain town of Banff to Kamloops in the heart of British Columbia's interior. Your journey offers you a spectacular range of scenery as you travel between the high peaks of the Canadian Rockies, over mountain passes and through the remarkable tunnels, along rocky lakeshores and across the ranchlands of the interior. Today's highlights include the Continental Divide, the Spiral Tunnels, the Kicking Horse Canyon, Rogers Pass, Craigellachie where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven and of course the glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Overnight in Kamloops.

Calgary: Boarding 6:20 a.m. MT

Banff: Boarding 8:40 a.m. MT

Kamloops Arrival: 7:20 p.m. PT

Day 1 Jasper to Kamloops
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from Jasper in the Canadian Rockies to Kamloops in the heart of British Columbia's interior. As you journey west and south you will be surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Continental Divide and by the river valleys of the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains. Today's highlights include Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3,954 meters (12,972 feet) and the journey along the North Thompson River as you approach your overnight destination, Kamloops.

Boarding Jasper 7:45am MT; Arrival Kamloops 4:10pm PT

Day 2 Kamloops to Vancouver
Your journey continues west towards the Pacific Ocean and the coastal city of Vancouver. On today's journey you will again see dramatic changes in scenery, from the desert-like environment of the interior, through winding river canyons and forests surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade Mountains to the lush green fields of the Fraser River Valley. Highlights include the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River and the rushing waters of Hell's Gate in the Fraser Canyon. Your journey ends in Vancouver.

    Whistler to Jasper
    Our new Fraser Discovery Route, named for the mighty Fraser River whose length it follows, links the mountain resorts of Whistler, British Columbia, and Jasper, Alberta, and travels through the historic gold-rush Cariboo region and the lush forests of northern British Columbia.
