Pinedale FAQs
PureWest is hosting this meeting to share information about its current and planned operations in the Pinedale, Wyoming area. It’s an opportunity for residents to learn more about local activities, ask questions and talk directly with company representatives.
The meeting will feature several science-fair-style stations where community members can meet subject-matter experts and company leaders, explore interactive displays and ask questions about our operations in the area.
‘Increased density’ means drilling more wells within a given area – often allowing more wells to be drilled from a single pad location. Instead of spacing wells farther apart, they’re placed closer together to recover natural gas more efficiently. This approach allows PureWest to access existing resources from current or nearby pads, reducing the need for new surface disturbance or infrastructure. If you received a notice, it does not mean drilling or other activities will occur on your property. It means there is proposed subsurface development within 0.5 mile of your location and regulations require you be notified.
A setback defines the minimum distance between wells underground (the “bottom hole” location). Adjusting setbacks helps create consistent spacing across lease boundaries, avoids leaving untapped pockets of natural gas and ensures the fair recovery of resources for all mineral owners.
Increasing density and aligning setbacks are primarily subsurface (underground) changes. In many cases, they help reduce surface disturbance by allowing PureWest to drill multiple wells from existing pads instead of building new ones.
On December 9, the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission will consider PureWest’s applications related to increased density and adjusted setbacks in portions of Sublette County. These hearings were moved from October to allow additional time for public input. Residents who received mailed notices were included because they live within approximately 0.5 mile of the proposed area, as required by regulation.
